And it is three o’clock in the afternoon and are wandering  around the center of the old Ljubljana town and your neglected stomach says: “Hey you, it’s definitely time for lunch”. Pops out the dilemma. Where to go, what to eat and what to drink as it might be hot. You are undecided. Should you be bold and try some local food or stick to the known.

I might be able to solve your problem.

A Little Bit for Everybody

In the old city center, near the main food market and right across the street from the side entrance to the Ljubljana Cathedral is the site of the Mediterraneo Restaurant. This is a restaurant that offers dishes for every taste – a variety of local and international food and has a nice atmosphere.

And more. The Mediterraneo is vegetarian friendly.

On warmer days you might choose to sit  outside and enjoy the city scene while having a nice meal or a fine drink or preferably, both!

Just take into account that out of high tourist season the Mediterraneo opening hours are till 5.0 p.m. During the tourist season the opening hours extend till 23.00 p.m.

You want to tell your loved ones you left home what a great time you are having while visiting Slovenia? No problem! You’ll get your WiFi connection for free.

It is up to you to make up your mind on what to eat and what to drink.

On Mediterraneo’s menu you’ll find Slovenian, European, Mediterranian and Italian dishes. And more. Your child wants a pizza – no problem. They serve lunch, dinner or you might prefer a light brunch. It’s all up to you.

Ask the Waiter

Or, if a might give you an advice, make a suggestion. Ask the waiter what He recommends for the dish of the day.

Notwithstanding what I just told you The Mediterraneo is best known for a number of seafood and pasta dishes – a piece of the Mediterranean in the heartm of Ljubljana old town. A dish of gnocchi might not be a bad idea.

As I said before, ask the waiter. The staff is friendly and helpful and they speak English. To ask the waiter for help might not be such a bad idea when you are faced with the choice of the drink to have with your meal. You might choose from a variety of local beer or have a glass of good wine. And of course, juice for the children.

Let us end the appraisal ob The Mediterraneo Reastaurant with the answer to the question that interests us all. What will the bill amount to? The Mediterraneo does not belong in the category of “cheap eat” restaurants though the prices are within reason. Let’s define their prices as mid-range. Maybe it makes sense to pay a little bit more and have a nice lunch in the company of a good beer or a glass of excellent wine.

Bon Apetit!!!
